Privacy Policy
Vetalingo is for education and practice only. It is not a substitute for veterinary clinical judgment, patient-specific care, or clinic-specific reference intervals.
What we collect
- Account data. If you create an account, we store your email address through our auth provider (Supabase) and any profile fields you enter (Public name, role, school, and similar). A Public name is required for social visibility. It does not need to be a legal name or unique.
- Progress data. Learning progress, practice results, cosmetics, and related game state are saved on this device. When you are signed in and cloud sync is configured, that state is also stored in your player profile so it can sync across devices.
- Leaderboard fields. When you create an account, leaderboard visibility is on by default. Your Public name and weekly Daily Workup score may be visible to other players. Your school and class year are shown only if you separately choose to display them. Leaderboards are informal. Profiles with an invalid or incomplete Public name stay hidden from leaderboards until a valid name is chosen.
- Friends discovery fields. Friend-search discoverability is on by default for accounts. Other signed-in players can search for you by Public name and may see your Public name, role, school, class year, XP, and streak when you appear in friend search or a friendship view. Invalid or incomplete Public names are excluded from search results.
- Product analytics. We use PostHog to understand how Vetalingo is used (for example: referral source, whether someone starts or finishes Daily Workup, shares a result, opens a recommended lesson, or creates an account). Events use a random anonymous ID and generated non-identifying visitor label until you sign in, then your internal account ID and a generated member label — not your email. We do not send real names, clinical free-text answers, or form contents. Analytics are intentional product events only (no session replay or form capture). If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, we do not initialize analytics.
How we use it
We use this information to run Vetalingo: authenticate you, sync progress, personalize the experience, improve the product using aggregated analytics, and operate optional features such as leaderboards. We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for advertising, and the Android app does not use the Android Advertising ID.
Storage and processors
Local progress stays on your device. Cloud accounts and synced profiles are hosted by Supabase. Product analytics events are processed by PostHog. When you are signed in and use the AI lesson tutor, your question, highlighted text, and related lesson notes may be sent to OpenAI solely to generate an educational answer. Guests receive notes-only answers that stay on this device.
Your choices
- You can play without an account; progress stays on this device only.
- You can sign out at any time; this device returns to a guest profile. Progress synced to your account stays in the cloud and comes back when you sign in.
- Leaderboard visibility and friends discoverability are on by default when you create an account. You can turn either setting off at any time in Profile → Privacy. Turning leaderboard visibility off removes you from leaderboards; turning friends discoverability off prevents new searches from finding you. Existing friendships are not removed automatically. Invalid or incomplete profiles remain hidden even when those settings are on.
- Delete your account. In the app, open Profile → Account and type DELETE to confirm. That removes your login, synced progress, friends, and leaderboard presence. You can also email hello@vetalingo.com from the address on the account if you need help.
